Please help us in expressing our gratitude and best wishes to Annette Lemire as her term as Immediate Past President of the TAGME Board of Directors came to a close on August 31.
Annette began her 26 year career in GME as a Program Coordinator for a General Surgery program in Massachusetts. She moved to Arizona in 2007 and continued her role in Surgery, and adding Otolaryngology, Palliative Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology soon after.
Annette first became involved with TAGME after joining an Ad Hoc committee in 2007 that led, over two years, to the development of the first
TAGME certification examination for Otolaryngology. She was among the first group to be officially certified in Otolaryngology and the first group to be recertified in 2014. She later served as Chair of the Process Quality Improvement Committee and as a Review Board member and Chair for Otolaryngology. With the move to global certification in 2016, she served as Chair of the Outcomes Committee before joining the Executive Committee in 2017.
Annette has served the GME Community in roles outside of TAGME as well. She has been a member and President of the Medical Education Coordinators of Arizona [MECAz]. On a national level, she was a Founding Committee member and then Chair of the Otolaryngology Program Coordinators Organization (OPCO), a group that now meets annually with the Society of University Otolaryngologists and Otolaryngology Program Directors. She was selected as a member of the Inaugural ACGME Coordinator Advisory Group and completed her 3-year term in May 2019.
Finally, Annette shares “I truly enjoy Graduate Medical Education and my roles help me to engage other coordinators in their careers.” Outside of GME, Annette is the mother of two grown children and grandmother of four. She also enjoys gardening, refinishing furniture, camping, and traveling.
Annette has been a dedicated and valuable member of the TAGME Board of Directors. Her presence and leadership will be missed.
