As we prepare to launch a new certification cycle, I am filled with genuine enthusiasm for the continued growth and evolution of TAGME. Each year, our community of GME professionals demonstrates resilience, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in graduate medical education. It is an honor to serve as your President during such an exciting time for our organization.

This upcoming cycle reflects thoughtful enhancements designed to better align with the realities of today’s GME environment.

We are pleased to share several important updates:

• Expanded Employment Gap Allowance – The allowable employment gap has been extended from 60 days to 12 months. This change recognizes the natural career transitions that occur within our profession while maintaining the integrity of TAGME certification standards.
• Broader Recognition of GME Roles – Eligibility language has been clarified to explicitly include professionals working within ACGME, Fellowship Council, and ABMS-recognized specialties, as well as Rotation Site Coordinators. TAGME certification continues to represent those who directly and substantially support accredited residency and fellowship programs across diverse institutional structures.
• New Institutional Examination (Launching 2027) – We are actively developing a new Institutional Certification pathway, with the inaugural exam cycle planned for 2027. This initiative represents our commitment to recognizing excellence at the Sponsoring Institution level and further elevating the impact of GME leadership nationwide. These updates reflect careful collaboration across TAGME committees: Executive, Applications, Marketing and Outcomes. Our goal remains clear: to ensure TAGME certification continues to serve as the gold standard for GME administrators while evolving alongside our profession.

The Executive Committee would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs, and Committee Members who generously give their time, expertise, and energy in support of TAGME’s mission. Your work behind the scenes, reviewing applications, refining policies, developing resources, and advancing new initiatives ensures that TAGME certification remains the hallmark of excellence for professionals supporting Graduate Medical Education. The commitment and collaboration demonstrated by our volunteers truly reflects the strength of our community.

As we open this new cycle, I encourage you to engage, apply, mentor a colleague, and continue strengthening the community that makes TAGME so exceptional. The future of GME administration is bright and TAGME will continue leading the way.
